Who We Are

The Middle Tennessee Woodwind Orchestra is a collective of semi-professional woodwind musicians from the Middle Tennessee area, fiscally sponsored by Love Learning Music, LLC. Our mission is to advocate for the existence of the woodwind orchestra, for the creation of new music, and to create a space outside of academia and the commercial music industry where musicians can get paid for their work. The MTWO is dedicated to providing quality performances for both the general public as well as for private bookings, and is always open to collaborating with local sponsors and organizations.

Logan Barrett is a native of Murfreesboro, TN, and an emerging conductor, educator, and advocate for new works for the woodwind orchestra. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance (2019) and a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting (2022) from Middle Tennessee State University. His principal teachers include Pedro Garcia (“Pedrosaxo”), Brian Horner, Dr. Reed Thomas, Craig Cornish, and Dr. Dennis Hawkins Jr.

Logan is the founder and conductor of the Middle Tennessee Woodwind Orchestra (MTWO) and actively commissions new compositions for the ensemble. In addition to this work, he serves as a classroom associate and records clerk at James Lawson High School in Bellevue and teaches at Love Learning Music and Dow Street Community Music School in Murfreesboro. This year, he was invited to guest conduct and perform as part of a cultural exchange trip to Hangzhou, China, where he will collaborate with a collective of local musicians in May (along with several members of the MTWO).

Beyond music, Logan enjoys meditative walks in local parks, reading comics, playing with his cat Salem, and home cooking.

Clayton Hamilton is an educator and performer currently based in Nashville, TN. He previously held the High School Band Director position in Burlington, VT for six years before relocating in the summer of 2023.

An avid performer, he has performed with the Burlington Civic Orchestra, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, and been a guest soloist with the Solaris Vocal Ensemble and Houghton University Chamber Orchestra. Clayton holds a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from New England Conservatory and a Bachelor of Music in Education from Houghton University.

Along with being the Co-Artistic Director of the Middle Tennessee Woodwind Orchestra, Clayton also holds the position of the Director of Instrumental Music at Ensworth High School. His previous teachers include Ken Radnofsky, Dr. Chisato Eda-Marling, and Demetrius Spaneas. In his free time he enjoys drinking coffee with his wife Danielle and playing with his three dogs.
